CCA at SLPS: A Journey of Growth

Growing Through Experience, Exposure and Excellence

At Si Ling Primary, CCA is an integral part of our students’ holistic development. Through the 3Es of Experience, Exposure and Excellence, students discover their interests, develop their strengths and grow in confidence, character and 21st Century Competencies (21CC).

Experience

Every student begins their CCA journey with opportunities to explore, experience and discover.

In Primary 2 Term 4, students are introduced to a diverse range of CCAs across Performing Arts, Uniformed Groups, Clubs & Societies, and Sports. Through three CCA immersion sessions, students gain first-hand experience of different CCAs before selecting up to three CCAs to explore further, leading to their final CCA choice.

Beyond developing CCA-specific skills, 21CC is intentionally embedded within CCA sessions. Students learn to communicate, collaborate, think critically, manage themselves and adapt as they work with others and take on new challenges.

Students also document their learning, experiences and growth through a digital portfolio and Growth Journal. These platforms allow students to capture meaningful moments, reflect on their learning, recognise their progress and set goals for continued growth.

Exposure

CCA opens doors for students to learn beyond the classroom.

Depending on the nature and opportunities within each CCA, students may participate in competitions, performances, events and other platforms beyond their weekly CCA sessions. These experiences provide authentic opportunities for students to apply their learning, step out of their comfort zones and learn from others.

Through these experiences, students develop confidence, resilience, teamwork and leadership, while broadening their perspectives and discovering new possibilities.

Excellence

At Si Ling Primary, excellence is not defined solely by achievements or accolades. It is about striving to become the best version of oneself through resilience, perseverance and continuous improvement.

Students who represent the school may participate in the National School Games (NSG), Singapore Youth Festival (SYF) and other competitions, performances and events. In Sports, students are supported in the pursuit of high performance through resilience, perseverance, continuous improvement and holistic athlete development.

Whether on the competition field, on stage or within their CCA community, students are encouraged to embrace challenges, persevere through setbacks and continually improve.

Through the 3Es of Experience, Exposure and Excellence, our CCA programme nurtures students to become Adaptive Learners, Empathetic Leaders and Future-Ready Citizens — ready to grow, contribute and make a difference.

In Si Ling Primary School, pupils join a Co-Curricular Activity (CCA) from Primary 3 onwards. Before selecting a CCA, all Primary 3 pupils will have the opportunity to experience every CCA through our Primary 3 CCA Exposure Programme, enabling them to make informed choices based on their interests and strengths.

CCAs play an important role in a child's holistic development. Through meaningful participation, pupils develop character, values ajd social-emotional competencies while building resilience, forging friendsips and nurturing leadership skills. CCAs also provide authentic opportunities for pupils to develop the 21st Centrury Competencies (21CC) that will prepare them for lifelong learning and future challenges.
